Where the heck is Taylor Swift?

Bonjour, makeup lovers! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything interesting or useful lately. I've been sick with the flu for the past week and I just haven't been in the mood to even wear makeup, much less blog about it. But I'm feeling much better now, and I'm ready to get back to business.

Now I love COVERGIRL and all, but I find their use of celebrity endorsements... confusing. The company does a very good job picking out strong, positive women who serve as good role models, such as Ellen DeGeneres and Drew Barrymore. Their 2011 Cover Girl, Taylor Swift, is a great addition to their arsenal of celebrity endorsers. She's young, bubbly, and almost every teenage girl on the planet loves her. So why is it that it is now March of 2011, and all I am seeing on TV are Drew Barrymore COVERGIRL ads?

I think this year I have seen maybe two COVERGIRL commercials featuring Taylor Swift, and about 8,247,398 with Drew Barrymore. I can rattle off the top of my head all of the COVERGIRL products and collections Barrymore endorses (Lashblast, Lip Perfection Lipstick, etc. etc.) because I can remember all of the commercials. To be honest, I didn't even know what products Swift is attached to until I started snooping around on the COVERGIRL Web site. The NatureLuxe collection, according to the Web site, features a silky light-weight foundation infused with jojoba and cucumber extract and a lip balm with 15 SPF.

Those sound like great products, but I shouldn't have had to go on their Web site to find out about them. If they were doing an adequate job promoting both their new collection and their new Cover Girl, I would have already known about it and I'd probably currently be in possession of the NatureLuxe Silk Foundation (as long as it matched my embarrassingly pallid skin tone). The answer to this problem, COVERGIRL, is very simple: Stop showing Drew Barrymore commercials and start showing more Taylor Swift. Don't get me wrong, Barrymore is a great spokeswoman, but she has had her time to shine. It's time to shift her out of the spotlight and shine it on your new Cover Girl. If you aren't going to do anything to promote her, why did you even bother to hire her?

Okay, that's enough ranting for one day. I'll end this post by listing the makeup I'm currently wearing:

  • COVERGIRL TRUblend Pressed Powder foundation.
  • CG Smoothers Concealer stick.
  • N.Y.C. Cheek Glow blush (My CG blush has recently gone missing, so I've been forced to switch products until I replace it.)
  • COVERGIRL Queen Collection Eyeliner.
  • LashBlast Fusion Mascara.
  • Banana Chapstick. (Not a CG product.)

And there you have it. Until next time, makeup lovers. Peace.
